Census officials tended to write their classification codes (or other jibberish) at the far right, too, but it's worth checking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2606727911113933565.post-2987254409738235392017-03-03T08:18:59.458-05:002017-03-03T08:18:59.458-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08123873450625286841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2606727911113933565.post-18455052905007602242017-03-03T06:42:55.718-05:002017-03-03T06:42:55.718-05:00Melinda..you can see this population schedule both...Melinda..you can see this population schedule both online at places like Ancestry or FamilySearch and you can see it at the end of the microfilm. The thing to remember is that this schedule was only brought out when the persons told the census taker they were of Native American descent. So in other words, if no one in the locale mentioned it, there would be no Indian Population Schedule at the end. Does that make sense? When I found Michael Widener in the 1840 census for Washington County, I clicked on the image just prior (#114) and see that he is listed as living in the home of "Michael Widener, Sr." This means that he is both the head-of-household and the pensioner. I was using Ancestry when I found this. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Well...Hi! Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Well, if your targeted person wasn't born in the U.S., but lived in the U.S. in the 184os, they would likely still appear on the census. If you are looking for a person who was born AND lived outside the U.S., you would need to search that countries census holdings. You can learn more about those censuses on the FamilySearch Wiki at https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Main_Page. Search for something like United Kingdom census, or Netherlands Census, etc. Best of luck!Amie Bowser Tennanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00807141943126512123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2606727911113933565.post-26388080960195624622017-03-02T09:13:24.448-05:002017-03-02T09:13:24.448-05:00What Deborah said! NONE! Guess we don't have longevity on our side. Since I was a HS sennior in 1976, and 18 yo, now I'm wondering if I'll make it to the 2040 Census. I have found an ancestor I know to have been a Revolutionary War pensioner in the 1840 census (Michael Widener, Washington County, Virginia, born 1758). You mentioned just flipping over to the previous page to find the household in which he was living, however there are no names listed unless I go 6 pages prior. The names found 6 pages prior don't really seem to match. Am I missing something? I have given statewide lectures on cemeteries and written 32 articles on cemeteries in Scott County, Missouri, but I am somewhat inactive in public since I retired. I will now have my DNA tested at 23 and Me after watching the presentation on various DNA testing. When it says "traits" I am wondering if that would also show "attributes or talents" inheritated, like musical abiliies, visual arts, and the like.

I am now retired and have moved to Louisiana to be near my daughter and do not engage in one-on-one genealogy anymore. I really miss it but I am meeting cousins through Ancestry.com and have a meeting with a newly found cousin in March. I appreciate your advising about grants, scholarships and other financial opportunities to find help in attending RootsTech. It would be fantastic to attend RootsTech and to get reconnected with genealogist again. In my past professional career I was a featured speaker or session leader for Corporate Travel World and Business Travel News Annual Conference, which waived the conference fees and I attended every year. I miss interacting with audiences. I am sure you understand what I am talking about.

Again, thank you and I compliment you on an eye-catching header that brought me into you Blog. I am 1+ and following your blog. God Bless You for your work!Margaret Cline Harmonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11364415742794744771noreply@blogger.com
