About Me

Welcome to my genealogy and family history blog! I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion about genealogy!

My Kith N Kin is dedicated to teaching and inspiring. I love writing "how to's", "where I found that", and stories about my own ancestors.

I have been involved in family history and genealogy for over 16 years. Scrapbooking got me hooked! I couldn't believe that my family didn't know the names of the people in their pictures. I had to find the answers.

I spent many hours learning from home. With two small children at the time, I had to be creative in my learning resources. I took every free online class I could find and spent a lot of time at our local Family History Center.

Then in 2010, I learned about a scholarship program for the National Genealogical Home Study Course in American Genealogy. I applied and won the scholarship. That series of graded classes helped to challenge my skills and taught me proper research techniques. Now, on to the next big challenge of becoming a certified genealogist!

Over the years, I have been a volunteer in Family History Center's, board member and trustee of many local historical places and societies, and was the editor for Miami Meanderings, a newsletter sponsored by Miami County (Ohio) Historical and Genealogical Society.

I am a research genealogist, nationally known speaker, and a Content Creator for Lisa Louise Cooke's Genealogy Gems. My articles have been published all over the world!

I hope that you enjoy my personal blog as well as my other writings at Genealogy Gems. I hope to encourage, educate, and inspire genealogists and family historians of all ages.

If you wish to contact me about research, guest blogging, or lecturing at your next event, please send an email to mk_amie@hotmail.com. You will find a list of lectures and summaries in the Lecture Topic tab.
